Job Description/Overview:
Oakey Beef Exports, part of NH Foods Australia, is seeking experienced Livestock Handlers to join our team. Located 28km west of Toowoomba, we are one of Australia’s largest and most modern meat processing plants. This role involves handling livestock according to strict animal welfare policies, moving them between paddocks and pens, and assisting in the overall care of the animals.
Key Responsibilities:
Move livestock between paddocks and holding pens.
Feed and water livestock.
Identify and separate sick animals.
Handle livestock per company Animal Welfare Policies.
Humanely euthanize sick and injured livestock.
Qualifications:
Interest in livestock handling and processing.
Good livestock handling skills.
Ability to obtain a current firearms license.
Physical capability for bending and squatting.
Experience:
Proven experience in safe livestock handling.
Familiarity with handling livestock per animal welfare standards.
Experience working unsupervised and within a team.
Skills:
Strong communication skills to liaise with livestock managers, supervisors, and on-site government veterinarians.
Reliable and eager to learn.
Ability to work a weekly rotating roster (morning, afternoon, and night shifts).
