Job Description/Overview
As a Relief Chef, you will be responsible for all aspects of food production and delivery to patients, staff, and visitors. This role emphasizes food quality, adherence to standard recipes, and innovative presentation.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and deliver meals following standard recipes and methods.
Apply cooking procedures such as cook chill and cook freeze effectively.
Ensure food consistency, flavor, texture, and quality meet NHS standards.
Promote innovative and attractive meal presentation.
Maintain adherence to food safety standards (HACCP and COSHH).
Qualifications
Essential:
Professional Chef Qualification (e.g., City and Guilds, NVQ).
Basic Food Hygiene Award.
Desirable:
Intermediate Food Hygiene Award.
IOSH Managing Safely certification.
Experience
Essential:
Experience in a large catering environment.
Knowledge of allergen requirements and therapeutic diets.
Proven track record in effective stock control and achieving targets.
Desirable:
Supervisory experience in catering services.
Collaboration with dietitians to cater for specialized hospital diets.
Skills
Strong leadership and communication skills.
Knowledge of food safety legislation and NHS Food Service Standards.
Proficiency in computer applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Ability to deliver training to staff.
