Job Description:
Multilingual Connections is seeking experienced subtitle translators proficient in multiple languages for an upcoming project with an independent federal agency. This role involves translating and creating subtitle files for documentary-style multimedia content viewed by audiences around the globe. About the Client:
Our client is an independent federal agency delivering reliable news and information in 48 languages to over 326 million people weekly. As part of its mission, the organization produces long-form multimedia content, including short and feature-length documentaries, explainer videos, and investigative stories that address global issues through the lens of the human experience. The content is broadcast through OTT platforms, streaming apps, and social media channels such as YouTube and Facebook.
Volume:
- Average monthly output includes four short documentaries (10-20 minutes each).
- Occasional feature-length documentaries (30-70 minutes).
Responsibilities:
- Create monolingual captions in SRT and VTT formats if the video is in your language.
- Translate English caption templates (from English source video) into your language in SRT/VTT format.
- Translate English caption templates (translated from another language source video) into your language.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in subtitling for languages including Dari, Pashto, Kurdish, Serbo-Croatian, French-African, Portuguese-African, and Somali.
- Subtitling skills, including timecoding and familiarity with subtitle editors.
- Ability to create and troubleshoot SRT and VTT files.
- Strong knowledge of subtitle standards, including character limits, reading speed, and time on screen.
- English proficiency.
- Familiarity with Google Suite tools: Drive, Docs, Sheets, Meets, etc.
