Position Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to support the growth and evolution of Wipfli’s modern data lakehouse, designed to democratize data across the firm. Reporting to the Information Team Director, this role will involve supporting and documenting data architecture, building data models, and contributing to continuous platform advancements. This position is ideal for candidates with Databricks experience, strong data skills, and a desire to make an impact through data solutions and mentoring.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead consensus-building for solution recommendations across teams.
- Evolve and document Wipfli’s data lakehouse using medallion architecture.
- Translate business requirements into effective data models for AI/ML, visualizations, and more, adhering to best practices.
- Develop solutions using tools like Databricks, Microsoft Azure Data Factory, Python, and T-SQL.
- Oversee project life cycle activities within the Information Team’s scrum framework using Azure DevOps.
- Continuously develop skills to meet Information Team standards and delivery goals.
- Collaborate on process improvements and mentor other engineers as needed.
- Provide after-hours on-call support as necessary.
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in a modern data platform; Databricks experience preferred.
- Ability to learn and implement new concepts quickly, with a naturally curious mindset.
- Expertise in extracting and landing data from source systems across access methods; bonus for Workday RaaS and/or Microsoft Dynamics/Dataverse experience.
- Strong commitment to quality standards, testing, code review, and documentation practices.
- Proficiency in virtual collaboration tools; occasional in-person event attendance may be required.

Compensation and Benefits:
- Salary range: $107,000 – $144,000, with compensation based on factors like location, experience, and certifications.
- Eligibility for a variable incentive plan based on individual and firm performance.
