Job Description/Overview:

 

The YMCA of Kanawha Valley is looking for a passionate Human Resources Manager to join their team starting in January 2025. This newly created role offers the opportunity to build HR systems from the ground up for over 30 full-time and 120 part-time staff. Reporting directly to the CEO, this position requires expertise in recruitment, HR system integration, and staff training management. The HR Manager will oversee daily human resources activities, compliance, and staff support.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Full-cycle recruitment process, including job description development, job posting, and sourcing.

 

Overseeing the onboarding process and managing documentation for new hires.

 

Managing employee benefits, including open enrollment, insurance queries, and maintaining the HRIS system.

 

Processing HR actions such as promotions, pay changes, terminations, and new hires.

 

Ensuring payroll accuracy and working with the AP department.

 

Managing YMCA’s learning platform for staff certifications and training.

 

Providing HR-related support to department directors and ensuring compliance with employment laws.

 

Communicating policy changes and managing personnel matters.

 

Qualifications:

 

Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or a related field.

 

5 years of HR experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.

 

Strong understanding of HR processes and best practices.

 

Proficient in MS Office and HRIS systems.

 

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

 

Strong organizational and time management abilities.

 

Ability to work confidentially and flexibly in a fast-paced environment.

 

Experience:

 

Minimum 5 years of experience in Human Resources, with 2 years in management.

 

Skills:

 

Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.

 

Strong leadership and communication abilities.

 

Ability to adapt and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
