Job Description/Overview:
Ford Motor Company is seeking a Research Engineer to join their Research and Advanced Engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing next-generation power electronic converters for electrified vehicles, supporting the development of smart gate drive technologies, and conducting research in advanced power electronics. This position will require you to test and quantify semiconductor and inverter component losses, communicate results through technical reports, and stay updated on international trends in power electronics.
Key Responsibilities:
Design power electronic converters for electrified vehicles.
Develop and test smart gate drive technologies for silicon and wide band gap devices.
Conduct research in power electronic topologies and materials for inverter applications.
Test semiconductor and inverter component losses.
Write technical reports and present findings to management.
Monitor trends in power electronics to support inverter system advancements.
Collaborate with experts in inverter control and low voltage circuit design.
Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
5+ years of research/industry experience in high-voltage power electronic systems.
Expertise in HV system design, testing, and component sizing.
Experience in modelling HV circuits and semiconductors for inverter systems.
Familiarity with signal acquisition, time-to-frequency domain correlation, and lab equipment.
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years in research or industry within high-voltage power electronic systems.
Expertise in signal acquisition, analysis, and system stability modelling.
Skills:
Expertise in using MATLAB, LabView, Synopsys SABER, and similar tools.
Strong presentation and communication skills.
Team-oriented with leadership ability.
