Job Description/Overview:
Summit Truck & Equipment Repair, a member of The Sutherland Group of Companies, is seeking a Journeyman Truck & Trailer Mechanic to join our team in Salmo, British Columbia. We offer commercial transport and heavy equipment repair services in the heart of the Kootenay Rockies. Enjoy breathtaking natural beauty and year-round outdoor activities with a 4 on/4 off shift rotation. Relocation assistance is available for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
– Perform quality repairs & preventative maintenance on heavy trucks and trailers.
– Diagnose issues and find solutions to difficult problems.
– Complete inspection reports to record problems and work performed.
– Train and assist other technicians or apprentices.
– Maintain positive working relationships with supervisors and other staff.
– Perform inspections, diagnostic tests, troubleshooting, and general vehicle repair.
– Conduct safety checks on vehicles and equipment.
– Provide routine maintenance on tractors, trailers, and mobile equipment.
– Perform mechanical repairs in the shop and on road calls.
– Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment.
– Perform incidental welding repairs on equipment.
– Maintain knowledge of changes in technology and repair techniques.
Qualifications needed:
– Journeyman Truck & Transport Mechanic or Journeyman Trailer Mechanic ticket.
– Experience in commercial truck and trailer repairs such as brake, suspension, electrical, and emission systems.
– Ability to be a team player and share knowledge by teaching and coaching junior Mechanics.
Experience:
– Relevant experience in commercial truck and trailer repair.
Skills:
– Diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
– Knowledge of safety standards and compliance.
– Welding and fabrication skills.
