Job Description/Overview:
Zoetis Reference Laboratories is seeking a dedicated Lab Assistant to join our innovative veterinary clinical diagnostic laboratory. This role involves handling laboratory specimens and supporting various laboratory functions to ensure accurate and timely processing of patient test results.
Key Responsibilities:
Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling, processing, and maintaining records of test results.
Prepare laboratory specimens for designated departments prior to analysis and testing.
Unpack and route specimens to various staging areas.
Organize work by matching computer orders with specimen labeling and logging specimens.
Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of work surfaces.
Participate in safety training sessions and familiarize with safety equipment.
Perform other duties as directed by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED Equivalent.
Detail-oriented, flexible, and quick to learn, with strong data entry and organizational skills.
Ability to work productively in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Strong computer skills, particularly within Windows and Laboratory Information System environments.
Comfortable in a fast-paced laboratory setting.
Experience:
Previous experience in a medical background or laboratory testing terminology is preferred.
Skills:
Excellent typing skills and attention to detail in data entry.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Willingness to work flexible hours and potential overtime.
Schedule:
Monday-Friday and Tuesday-Saturday (Rotating Weekends) 12:00 AM – 8:30 AM.
