Job Description/Overview:
The Nurse Assistant performs essential activities to assist patients in meeting their basic human needs and daily living activities under the direction of the RN or LPN. The role includes maintaining communication with patients, families, and staff while ensuring a safe and clean environment and accurate medical record maintenance.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide patient care to meet physical and psychosocial needs within the nursing assistant’s scope of practice.
Assist in the admission, transfer, and discharge of patients.
Communicate observed changes in patient status to the RN or LPN.
Collect, report, and document relevant patient data.
Maintain a safe environment for optimal patient safety and positive outcomes.
Transport patients safely to other departments as needed.
Perform tasks such as telemetry application, EKGs, and care related to saline locks and Foley catheters as assigned.
Qualifications:
High School graduate or equivalent.
Successful completion of a certified nursing assistant program is preferred but not required.
Active Certified Nurse Assistant certification upon hire is required.
Completion of classroom education on Nurse Aide competencies and maintenance of clinical competency.
Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support upon hire or within the introductory orientation period.
Experience:
No prior experience required, but relevant experience in patient care is beneficial.
Skills:
Effective communication skills in English.
Basic computer skills.
Ability to function under stress and in flexible situations.
