Role Overview
The Sr. Staff System and Software Architect will play a leading role in designing and implementing next-generation computing platforms based on the RISC-V instruction set architecture. This role combines hardware and software expertise to create scalable, high-performance solutions while collaborating with cross-functional, global engineering teams. You’ll contribute to the development of advanced CPU cores, subsystems, and software ecosystems that redefine computing for the 21st century.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, design, and implement advanced CPU cores, SoCs, and IP subsystems focusing on scalability, performance, and reliability.
- Design and develop low-level software for multiprocessor, multithreaded systems.
- Write and review architecture specifications for hardware and software features.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate RISC-V features with modern operating systems, primarily Linux.
- Participate in testing and validating key system features in complex environments.
- Engage with industry organizations, including RISC-V International and RISE.
Required Qualifications
- Proficiency in developing low-level code in C for multiprocessor, multithreaded operating systems (e.g., Linux kernel, BSD kernels).
- Strong understanding of computer architecture, CPU/system levels, and VLSI design concepts.
- Experience writing and reviewing architecture specifications for hardware and software.
- Familiarity with modern desktop and server ecosystems, including PCIe, Device Tree, ACPI, and UEFI.
- Knowledge of the RISC-V ISA and RISC-V software ecosystem.
- Experience working with RTL engineers and understanding RTL product lifecycles.
- Excellent communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with accelerated computing software and hardware stacks.
- Familiarity with Linux distributions such as Debian, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and SLES.
- Knowledge of programming languages like C++, Rust, or SPARK/ADA.
- Background in virtualization and device passthrough workloads.
- Experience working in global teams with cross-cultural communication.
