Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Freelance Post-Production Captioner to create captions for a wide variety of video and audio programs. This flexible, freelance, remote position is perfect for experienced captioners who are passionate about accessibility and committed to producing high-quality work.
Key Responsibilities
- Create accurate captions by listening to program audio and using professional captioning software.
- Synchronize captions with video and audio, ensuring precise timing.
- Position captions to indicate speaker changes while avoiding graphics, logos, and copyrights.
- Research and verify content accuracy using available resources.
- Audit and edit captions to correct inaccuracies before deadlines.
- Adhere to Verbit’s style guides and standards.
- Communicate effectively with the team and maintain high attention to detail.
Qualifications

- Required Experience: Minimum of 1 year of offline captioning experience.
- Software: Access to professional captioning software.
- Broad knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and language.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work under pressure in a deadline-driven environment.
- Successful completion of VITAC proficiency tests.
- Self-motivated with excellent communication and research skills.
Compensation
- $1.20 per program minute.
- Compensation will align with the candidate’s experience and skill set.
