Position:Researcher in Microfluidics

Job Description/Overview:
The University of Oulu seeks a motivated Doctoral Researcher to join the Microfluidics and Biosensor Group led by Prof. Caglar Elbuken. The research focuses on nonlinear microfluidic systems, including projects on droplet microfluidics, artificial cells, and extracellular vesicles. This position is funded by a European Research Council (ERC) project studying red blood cell flow dynamics in microdroplet networks as models for biological capillary systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, fabricate, and experiment with microfluidic systems.
Study microdroplet dynamics using analytical, numerical, and experimental approaches.
Conduct interdisciplinary research at the intersection of engineering, physics, materials science, and biochemistry.
Qualifications:
Required:
Master’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, biomedical engineering, applied physics, materials science, or related fields.
Expertise in microfluidic system design, fabrication, and experimentation.
Fluency in written and spoken English.
Academic writing experience.
Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred:
Hands-on expertise with droplet microfluidic systems.
Experience working on multiple microfluidic projects.
