Job Description/Overview:
Cardiff University is looking for enthusiastic and reliable individuals to join the Building Support Services team. This role will involve delivering high levels of customer service, assisting in building operations, and ensuring the smooth running of events and maintenance tasks. Successful candidates will have prior experience in a facilities or building support role and contribute to the university’s operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Handle inquiries from internal and external customers professionally.
Provide high-level customer service at all times.
Establish and maintain relationships with key contacts to improve service delivery.
Support the team with team objectives and train new team members.
Work flexible hours, including weekends, to meet business demands.
Set up rooms, manage equipment, and reset areas after events.
Distribute post and deliveries and manage access control (keys/access cards).
Report maintenance and housekeeping issues and liaise with the Estates team.
Respond to security incidents and perform manual handling tasks.
Support offsite events such as graduations.
Qualifications:
Basic numeracy and literacy (e.g., NVQ 1/GCSE level D-G).
Experience:
Experience in a building support role.
Basic knowledge of office IT packages (e.g., email).
Proven high standard of organizational and general skills.
Skills:
Strong customer service skills, ability to communicate effectively.
Ability to record information clearly and work as part of a team.
Planning, prioritizing, and organizing workload to meet deadlines.
Initiative in solving problems using established procedures.
