Job Description/Overview:
Cardiff University is looking for a Chef de Partie to join the kitchen team. The role involves preparing, cooking, and presenting meals for students, staff, and conference delegates. The Chef de Partie will work alongside the Kitchen Manager, participate in menu development, and contribute to the smooth operation of catering services across the university.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare varied, nutritious meals to a high standard for students, staff, and guests.
Assist in the preparation of meals for conferences, weddings, and special events.
Maintain high standards of food safety and cleanliness.
Contribute to menu planning and development with the Senior Head Chef.
Supervise and train kitchen staff, including casual and agency workers.
Maintain stock levels, rotate stock, and assist with purchasing provisions.
Ensure efficient use of resources, including energy, food, and equipment.
Attend special functions and assist with duties outside regular hours as needed.
Ensure compliance with food safety policies, including temperature monitoring and cleaning procedures.
Qualifications:
Recognized cookery qualification (equivalent to NVQ Level 2).
Proven experience in a high-volume catering environment.
Strong culinary skills with an eye for detail in food presentation.
Understanding of food safety principles.
Ability to work in a team and handle pressure effectively.
Experience:
Experience in a variety of catering establishments, including student meals, conferences, and events.
Prior experience in a customer-focused environment is essential.
Skills:
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to use email and internet-based applications.
Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.

Additional Information:
Salary: £22,278 – £23,114 per annum (£12.16 per hour).
Hours: 35 hours per week, 5 days out of 7.
