Job Description/Overview
Hampshire County Council’s Children’s Services Department, rated Outstanding by Ofsted, is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Assistant Team Manager to join the expanding Family Connections Service.
This team focuses on helping children thrive within their family networks, reducing the need for care system placements. You will support the Team Manager in delivering and developing this vital service.
Key Responsibilities:
Guide social workers in identifying and engaging potential family or friends as carers.
Assess and prepare special guardians or foster carers for specific children known to them.
Provide short- and long-term support to ensure carers succeed in their roles.
Contribute to increasing the number of children placed with family and friends carers outside the care system, such as with Special Guardians.
This role requires occasional flexibility to work outside standard business hours.
Qualifications
Qualified and registered Social Worker.
Experience in child protection, family assessments, or fostering services.
Proven ability to manage and lead teams effectively.
Experience
Background in developing strategies for placing children with family networks.
Experience in working with Special Guardianship arrangements or foster care placements.
Skills
Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
Ability to manage and inspire a team of practitioners.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Salary and Benefits
Salary Range: £39,382 – £43,679 per annum, plus £4,600 market supplement.
