About the Role

The Beaches Medical Centre is seeking a Receptionist to join their team on a fixed-term contract. In this important role, you will be responsible for general reception duties and administrative tasks, ensuring that patients receive excellent service in a busy and dynamic healthcare setting. You will work closely with both the clinical and administration teams, providing support and maintaining high standards of service at all times.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet patients and assist with any enquiries in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Process appointment and visit requests from patients via phone, online, and in-person.
  • Register new patients, input medical records, and update existing records as needed.
  • Process repeat prescription requests in line with practice guidelines.
  • Handle electronic documents, filing, and ensuring patient records are up-to-date.
  • Provide assistance with general administrative tasks, including stock control in clinical rooms and helping with building security procedures.
  • Cover all reception positions as required.
  • Provide additional support, such as making coffee for doctors and colleagues.
  • Follow practice procedures and protocols, ensuring confidentiality and data protection at all times.
  • Participate in required training and provide chaperone support during clinical appointments when needed.

Key Skills & Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients and staff.
  • Compassionate, friendly nature, able to work in a busy and varied environment.
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and under pressure.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare or medical setting would be beneficial but not essential.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the practice is secure, with thorough knowledge of alarm and fire drill procedures.
  • Support in the preparation of clinical areas and other ad-hoc tasks as directed by senior staff.
