Job Description/Overview
We are looking for a Catering Unit Manager to lead the catering operations at Preston Candover Primary School in Basingstoke. As a Catering Unit Manager, you will be responsible for running a busy kitchen, preparing fresh meals, and ensuring high-quality service for students. This is a term-time only position, offering great work-life balance, with hours from Monday to Friday during school hours.
In this role, you will manage a catering team, ensuring the smooth running of food preparation and maintaining high standards. You should be an excellent communicator, a natural leader, and able to work efficiently under pressure.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the kitchen team, ensuring high food quality and safety standards.
Oversee food preparation and cooking, using fresh ingredients.
Provide excellent customer service to students and staff.
Maintain kitchen cleanliness and adhere to health and safety standards.
Set up and clear dining areas for meal services.
Train and motivate team members, ensuring they are following procedures.
Qualifications
Experience in a similar catering or management role is essential.
Strong organizational and leadership abilities.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high standards.
Excellent communication skills.
Experience
Proven experience in a catering environment, preferably managing a team.
Experience in preparing and serving meals in a fast-paced setting.
Salary and Benefits
Hourly Rate: £12.75 – £13.18 per hour.
Contract Type: Permanent (Term-time only).
