Job Description/Overview
We are looking for a Catering Unit Manager to oversee the catering services at Highcliffe St Mark Primary School in Christchurch. This is a term-time only position, offering excellent work-life balance with hours from Monday to Friday during school hours. As a Catering Unit Manager, you will lead a team, manage the kitchen, and prepare fresh, nutritious meals for students.
You should be highly organized, an effective leader, and able to manage a busy kitchen while maintaining excellent service standards. Communication skills and the ability to work under pressure are key to success in this role.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the catering team to ensure high food quality and safety standards.
Oversee meal preparation and cooking using fresh ingredients.
Ensure efficient operation of the kitchen while maintaining health and safety regulations.
Provide exceptional customer service to students and staff.
Train and support the team to ensure adherence to quality standards.
Maintain kitchen cleanliness and ensure proper food storage.
Qualifications
Previous experience in a catering or management role is essential.
Strong leadership and organizational skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience
Experience working in a similar catering environment, preferably in a management role.
Experience managing a team in a kitchen or food service setting.
Salary and Benefits
Hourly Rate: £12.75 – £13.18 per hour.
Contract Type: Permanent (Term-time only).
