Job Description/Overview
Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an enthusiastic and reliable Domestic Assistant to join the team at Berrywood Hospital. This role involves general cleaning duties, ensuring the hospital’s patient, public, and staff areas meet the high standards set by the NHS National Cleaning Specifications. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to maintaining a clean and safe environment for all.
Shift Pattern: 25 hours per week, working on a 2-week rota:
Week One: Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 13:00
Week Two: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday & Sunday, 08:00 – 13:00
Weekend shifts are paid at the current NHS additional enhanced rate.
Key Responsibilities
Provide high-quality cleaning services in patient and public areas.
Adhere to NHS National Cleaning Specifications and maintain health and safety standards.
Use appropriate equipment, materials, and chemicals safely and effectively.
Undertake floor maintenance, including mopping and shampooing carpets.
Dispose of waste and clinical waste in accordance with procedures.
Complete deep cleaning, infection cleaning, and other specialized cleaning tasks as required.
Ensure compliance with COSHH regulations when handling chemicals.
Maintain a neat and tidy appearance, wearing the uniform and protective clothing provided.
Qualifications
Essential:
General education, including literacy and numeracy.
Understanding of the importance of health and safety and hygiene.
Desirable:
Ability to interpret and follow written instructions.
Experience
Essential:
Previous experience in a similar role or industry.
Skills
Essential:
Knowledge of health and safety protocols.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
