Role Overview
Toronto Life is looking for an experienced Features Editor to join our editorial team. In this full-time, permanent role, you will help create ambitious, long-form stories while expanding and evolving the Toronto Life brand across both print and digital platforms. This is a hybrid role that offers flexibility with some in-office and remote workdays.
Key Responsibilities
- Brainstorm, assign, and edit high-quality, thought-provoking features across various platforms.
- Contribute as a writer to the magazine, website, newsletters, and social media.
- Participate in cover discussions and content strategy planning.
- Mentor team members and help elevate the overall quality of Toronto Life content.
- Manage relationships with departments including art, fact-checking, and legal.
- Work directly with regular freelancers and develop relationships with new writers.
- Drive new initiatives for both web and print content.

- Exceptional writing and editing skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities, with a focus on meeting deadlines.
- Positive, collaborative, and inclusive team-oriented mindset.
- Clear, creative thinker with the ability to generate new ideas.
- Established network of industry contacts.
- Experience in TV/radio is a plus.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a long-form editing role.
- Strong grammatical and editorial skills.
- Proficiency with InDesign/InCopy and WordPress.
- A portfolio of published work as both a writer and editor.
- Familiarity with libel law.
