Position Overview
We are looking for a Contract Writer to join our team and contribute Commentary articles for our audience of conservative readers. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of current events, politics, and cultural issues, with the ability to articulate well-researched, thought-provoking opinions in a timely manner.
Responsibilities
- Write 1+ Commentary articles per day, depending on your availability (up to several days per week).
- Research and analyze assigned topics, providing informed, credible commentary.
- Report on current events, U.S. politics, international affairs, and other relevant topics.
- Assemble supporting data and evidence to back up claims made in the articles.
- Accept feedback from the editorial team and apply suggestions to improve writing.
- Ensure articles reflect a strong conservative or Christian viewpoint that aligns with the publication’s voice.
- Write at least 340 words (17 paragraphs) per article.
- Meet deadlines and adhere to editorial standards.
Job Requirements
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong understanding of current events, especially U.S. politics.
- Ability to write on weekends as needed.
- Ability to meet deadlines and work independently.
- Passion for writing and strong grasp of grammar and organization.
- Familiarity with WordPress or another CMS is a plus.
- Previous writing experience for news outlets (print or online) is a plus.
- Knowledge of AP Style is a plus.
- Applicants must be located outside California (remote applicants from California cannot be considered).
Schedule
- Monday to Friday: 4:30 am – 1:00 pm AZ Time
- Saturday: After 5:00 pm AZ Time
- Sunday: 4:30 am – 12:00 pm AZ Time
- Flexibility to choose hours within these time windows.
Compensation
- Starting pay: $15 – $20 per article, depending on experience and skill level.
- This is a part-time, remote position.
Additional Information
- No vaccination requirement.
- Initial probationary period of 3 weeks to 2 months, based on the number of articles produced per week.
