Job Description/Overview:

Fondazzjoni Sebħ seeks a Residential Support Mentor to join the Children Services team on a full-time basis. The RSM will be part of a residential care team providing support to children and youths, focusing on implementing individualized Care Plans developed by professionals. The role is centered on empowering residents to overcome trauma and lead fulfilling lives within a supportive, homely environment. The RSM will work closely with social workers and the Home Manager, delivering high-quality care and fostering positive growth and development for each child.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Resident Support & Mentorship:

 

Collaborate with social workers to implement residents’ Care Plans.

 

Empower residents to meet their personal goals and develop healthy relationships.

 

Facilitate life skills development and help residents access educational, social, and employment opportunities.

 

Daily Care & Supervision:

 

Ensure residents are cared for with high standards, including health, hygiene, and emotional support.

 

Organize social and developmental activities and assist in meal preparation.

 

Support the caring team with daily tasks and transportation to appointments.

 

Administrative Duties:

 

Maintain accurate, daily records of resident interactions and progress.

 

Attend meetings and participate in team discussions regarding residents’ care.

 

Promptly report concerns about abuse or other safety issues.

 

Policy & Compliance:

 

Follow policies of Fondazzjoni Sebħ and the Archdiocese of Malta, ensuring Health and Safety compliance.

 

Help residents understand house rules and engage in communal living.

 

Comply with Mandatory Reporting Guidelines and other safeguarding policies.

 

Qualifications:

 

Level 6 qualification in psychology, social care, residential care, or a related field (students working towards this qualification may apply at a lower grade)

 

Experience:

Experience working with children and youth in residential or care settings is an asset.

 

Skills:

 

Empathy and understanding of childhood trauma and development

 

Ability to build positive, role-model relationships with residents

 

Strong teamwork and communication skills

 

Non-judgmental, adaptable, and capable of handling pressure
