Job Description/Overview
The Licensed Clinical Social Worker will perform evaluations, counseling, crisis intervention, case management, and medication monitoring under a psychiatrist’s direction for incarcerated individuals. Key duties include crisis intervention, implementation of W & I 5150, pre-release planning, maintaining documentation, consultation, and referral coordination.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Services: Provide individual and group counseling, triage, and case management for inmate mental health.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records, prepare reports, and ensure compliance with facility standards.
Crisis Intervention: Conduct assessments, including suicide evaluations and intervention planning.
Consultation and Referral: Work with psychiatrists, social workers, and external organizations to support client needs.
Pre-Release Planning: Facilitate support for inmates transitioning back to the community.
Qualifications
Required Education: Master’s Degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.

Experience: Relevant clinical experience in healthcare or social services (case management or social work).
Skills: Ability to manage conflict, conduct psychosocial assessments, and perform suicide evaluations.
Knowledge: Understanding of legislation impacting social work, including patient confidentiality, Tarasoff, and reporting requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working within jail or correctional settings.
Knowledge of the criminal justice system, state hospitals, and forensic mental health networks.
Experience
Prior work in clinical settings with a focus on individual and group therapy, particularly in high-stress or restrictive environments.
Skills
Ability to work effectively in a crowded and restrictive environment.
Excellent documentation and case management abilities.
