Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Social Media Manager to lead our online engagement efforts. You will oversee strategy development, content creation, and community building while managing a team of Social Media Specialists. The ideal candidate is a dynamic team leader with a proven track record in social media strategy, campaign execution, and performance analytics.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy Development and Implementation

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy aligned with Islamic Relief Canada’s mission and vision.
  • Ensure consistency and alignment of social media efforts with overall marketing campaigns.

Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Social Media Specialists.
  • Conduct regular team meetings, performance appraisals, and support professional development plans.

Content Creation and Curation

  • Supervise the production of multimedia content (graphics, videos, written posts) tailored to each platform.
  • Oversee the social media calendar, ensuring timely and high-quality content delivery.

Analytics and Reporting

  • Track and analyze social media performance using tools such as Google Analytics, Hootsuite, or Sprout Social.
  • Present performance insights and actionable recommendations to the Director of Marketing and stakeholders.

Campaign Management

  • Plan and execute social media campaigns, including Ramadan, Dhul Hijjah, Year-End, and Emergency Campaigns.
  • Collaborate on strategic initiatives with other departments (Government Relations, Fund Development, Programs).

Collaboration and Communication

  • Foster strong relationships with internal teams and external partners to ensure alignment and impact.
  • Maintain clear, effective communication to drive social media success across departments.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in social media management, with leadership experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in managing multiple platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.) and channel-specific best practices.
  • Strong storytelling abilities with an attention to detail and brand consistency.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with performance analytics and tools like Google Analytics, Hootsuite, or Sprout Social.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills.
  • Self-motivated and collaborative team player.
  • Bilingual proficiency in French is an asset.
  • Eligible to work in Canada.
