Job Description/Overview:
Northern Arizona University (NAU) seeks an Assistant Teaching Professor or Lecturer in Elementary Education to begin in January 2025. This position involves teaching undergraduate elementary courses, supervising practicum students, and providing support to specific cohorts in undergraduate teacher education programs. The role requires collaboration with school districts for student placement and participation in departmental activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Teach undergraduate courses in elementary education.
Supervise practicum experiences for students.
Advise students and support their academic journey.
Assist with program accreditation efforts.
Participate in departmental and college events.
Maintain a strong personal program of service.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
Assistant Teaching Professor: Earned doctoral degree in Curriculum and Instruction or related field by January 2025, with three years of K-8 teaching experience.
Lecturer: Master’s degree in Elementary Education or related field and three years of K-8 teaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Doctoral degree in a relevant field.
Specialized training in Elementary Education.
Experience with online teaching and higher education.
Demonstrated commitment to inclusive excellence and diverse learning environments.
Experience:
Three years of teaching experience at the Kindergarten to Grade 8 level.
Skills:
Knowledge of pedagogical practices for K-8 education.
Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration with education partners.
Proficiency with technology and learning management systems.
