Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Controller, Outsourced Accounting to join our team, focusing on franchise clients. In this role, you will manage a remote accounting team, oversee client financial reporting, and serve as a trusted advisor for our franchise industry clients. You will also play a key role in onboarding clients, maintaining relationships, providing technical accounting guidance, and driving process improvements. This role offers a fully remote work option within the U.S.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a remote accounting team, including scope of work, job time budgets, and job profitability.
- Provide advisory services to clients through remote meetings on financial statement interpretation.
- Foster and maintain client relationships within the franchise industry as the primary point of contact.
- Research and share industry best practices with clients.
- Ensure client expectations are met by overseeing accounting teams in the U.S. and overseas.
- Collaborate with the client and overseas team during onboarding, and review initial financial statements with clients.
- Offer technical accounting assistance to clients and internal teams.
- Advise clients on process improvements and internal controls within their accounting departments.
- Review management reports and other key performance indicators for accuracy and insights.
- Prepare financial data for loan covenants, if applicable.
- Mentor and train direct reports to grow in their responsibilities and roles.
- Operate various accounting software and stay current with applicable technology.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
- 5+ years of hands-on, full-cycle accounting experience, including financial statement preparation for multiple entities.
- Experience in the franchise or retail industry required; public accounting experience preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience.
- Proficient in technology, with experience in Microsoft Business Central, Intacct, and/or NetSuite preferred.
- Strong relationship-building skills and ability to manage client expectations.
- CPA, CMA, or equivalent professional certification preferred but not required.
- Background in cost accounting, inventory valuation reporting, and financial forecasting.
Compensation and Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $88,000 to $160,000, based on location, skills, and experience. Eligible candidates may qualify for an annual discretionary bonus based on individual and firm performance.
