Domestic Support Worker

Job Description/Overview

 

The Domestic Support Worker will be responsible for maintaining a clean and hygienic environment for Trust staff, patients, and visitors, in line with the National Standards of Cleanliness. The role includes carrying out cleaning tasks across wards, offices, and departments to support a safe healthcare environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Cleaning Services: Provide scheduled cleaning services for wards, offices, and departments.

 

Waste Disposal: Safely dispose of domestic and clinical waste according to Infection Control and Waste Disposal Policies.

 

Surface Cleaning: Perform high and low-level dusting, clean sanitary fixtures, replenish consumables, and maintain floor surfaces.

 

Equipment Maintenance: Regularly check, clean, and maintain cleaning equipment and report any faults.

 

Ad-hoc Requests: Respond to specific cleaning requests as directed, ensuring infection control standards are met.

 

Qualifications

 

Ability to work as part of a team

 

Good communication skills

 

Ability to understand and follow instructions

 

Experience

 

Experience in a domestic or similar environment is desirable

 

Understanding of Health and Safety practices is preferred

 

Skills

 

Initiative and ability to work under pressure

 

Professionalism, care, and compassion when interacting with patients and visitors

 

Awareness of COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) regulations (desirable)

Additional Information

 

Contract Type: Permanent

 

Hours: Part-time (15 hours per week, Saturday-Sunday, 07:00-15:00)

 

Salary: £23,615 per annum (pro rata)

 

Special Requirements: Subject to Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check due to access to vulnerable individuals.
