Job Description/Overview
We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 3 healthcare assistant to join our Haematology Day Unit team at Wythenshawe Hospital. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting our consultants, nurses, and other professionals to ensure a smooth-running unit. Responsibilities include venepuncture, assisting with patient care during bone marrow procedures, and providing clerical support. This is a full-time position for 37.5 hours per week on a fixed-term contract of 12 months.
Key Responsibilities
Perform venepuncture in day care and outpatient settings.
Assist with clinical observations and report changes in patient condition to senior staff.
Escort patients to other departments as needed.
Assist with bone marrow procedures and patient care.
Support clerical work, including knowledge of appointment systems and clinic administration.
Maintain professional development and attend relevant training.
Ensure the care and maintenance of specialist equipment on the unit.
Uphold confidentiality and comply with Trust policies.
Qualifications
General education to GCSE standard.
Experience
Significant healthcare experience.
Experience with venepuncture and cannulation.
Previous experience working to deadlines.
Skills
Self-motivated and able to manage workload.
Strong communication skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
