About Aera:
Aera is a non-custodial, autonomous, on-chain asset management protocol developed with Gauntlet’s support. Aera provides customizable, optimized treasury management solutions for DAOs. Gauntlet acts as the guardian for several core strategies within Aera, offering groundbreaking solutions to real use cases.
Role Overview:
As a Smart Contracts Engineer on Team Aera, you’ll have the opportunity to make a lasting impact by contributing to the development of a revolutionary on-chain protocol. You will work on low-level gas optimization, high-level invariants in Foundry, and collaborate with a diverse team of experts to deliver a high-assurance product.
This is a perfect role for someone eager to challenge themselves, work on complex DeFi protocols, and contribute to building the future of decentralized finance. You’ll be a key player in the development, security, and success of Aera, working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic, evolving environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Write and review high-assurance smart contract code, tests, and other deliverables for Aera’s protocol projects.
- Contribute to protocol design, architecture, and refinement during development.
- Collaborate with researchers, product managers, and client teams to implement new features.
- Conduct code and design reviews, ensuring high coding standards are met.
- Participate in internal security audits to ensure system robustness.
- Keep up-to-date with industry trends, technologies, and best practices in DeFi and smart contract development.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve software defects, ensuring optimal system performance.
- Create technical documentation and user guides to support product development.
Qualifications:
- 4+ years of professional software development experience.
- 2+ years of experience in Solidity smart contract development.
- Proficiency in Python, with experience in other programming languages welcome.
- Strong understanding of blockchain technology, DeFi protocols, and EVM-based networks.
- Experience with DeFi concepts like MEV, trading, incentives, and mechanism design.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a distributed team environment.
- Experience with version control systems (i.e., git).
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excitement to work in a fast-paced, early-stage environment with evolving scope and requirements.
Bonus Points:
- Experience developing and shipping user-facing features using component-based UI frameworks.

- National pay range: $135,000 – $200,000/year + On Target Earnings potential + equity compensation.
