Job Description/Overview:
The Cytologist will perform anatomical pathology procedures, requiring high theoretical and practical knowledge and independent judgment. Responsibilities include microscopic evaluations of gynecological and non-gynecological specimens, molecular and ancillary testing, and assisting with research and data collection.
Key Responsibilities:
– Microscopic evaluation and reporting of gynecological and non-gynecological slide preparations
– Correlate current cases with previous cytologic specimens
– Perform pre-and post-analytical activities, including specimen collection and processing
– Conduct molecular and ancillary testing
– Assist with data collection for research and publication
– Demonstrate expertise in patient preparation and sample quality
Qualifications Needed:
– Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent
– Completion of a 12-month CAAHEP accredited Cytotechnology program
– Certification as a Cytotechnologist (ASCP)
– Licensure as a Cytologist, as applicable to the state
Experience:
– Certification and relevant education required; prior experience preferred but not necessary
Skills:
– Expertise in cytology and laboratory procedures
– Ability to perform detailed microscopic evaluations
– Proficiency in specimen processing and quality control
– Strong communication and documentation skills
