Job Description/Overview:
As a Staff Data Scientist at Dropbox, you’ll work with engineering and product teams to analyze and grow revenue, optimize products, and launch high-impact initiatives. You’ll leverage analytics techniques to understand user behavior and provide business insights.
Key Responsibilities:
– Develop an understanding of customer journey phases and business metrics
– Perform deep-dive analysis to solve problems and design experiments
– Create personalized segmentation strategies using propensity models
– Build automated reporting and dashboards to track key metrics
– Extract actionable insights from large, complex data sets
– Monitor and analyze experiments to optimize product and revenue
– Communicate complex concepts clearly to the business
Qualifications needed:
– Bachelor’s degree or higher in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering)
– 8-10+ years of experience in analytics to drive business decisions
– Significant experience with SQL and large unstructured datasets (e.g., Hadoop)
– Deep understanding of statistical analysis and experimentation
– Solid background in running multivariate experiments
– Strong verbal and written communication skills
– Proficiency in programming/scripting; knowledge of R or Python is a plus
Preferred Qualifications:
– Advanced experience with R/Python scripting
– Superior skills with Tableau
– Experience with predictive modeling
– Experience handling large data sets and relational databases
