Job Description/Overview:
We are looking for an experienced construction laborer to join our site team.
If you are motivated, energetic and switched-on, we would love to hear from you.
We will be willing to pay the right applicant well above the award salary.
You will be assisting our Construction Manager and Site Manager with general onsite work at our various sites around Canberra.
Key Responsibilities
- Site Preparation: Prepare construction sites by clearing debris, setting up scaffolding, and loading and unloading materials.
- Material Handling: Transport, handle, and store construction materials and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Assisting Tradespeople: Support skilled tradespeople, such as carpenters, electricians, and plumbers, by providing necessary tools, materials, and assistance.
- Operating Machinery: Operate basic construction machinery and equipment, such as cement mixers, drills, and jackhammers, following safety protocols.
- Concrete Work: Mix, pour, and spread concrete, and assist in leveling surfaces for foundations, floors, and other structures.
- Demolition Work: Perform demolition tasks, including breaking down walls, removing old structures, and safely disposing of debris.
- Framing and Building: Assist in the framing of structures, building temporary or permanent frameworks, and installing components like windows and doors.
- Safety Compliance: Follow all safety guidelines and protocols, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), to maintain a safe work environment.
- Clean-Up Duties: Keep the construction site clean and organized by removing waste materials, sweeping, and performing other housekeeping tasks.
- Basic Repairs and Maintenance: Perform minor repairs and maintenance on tools, equipment, and construction infrastructure as needed.
Qualifications needed
- On site experience (residential or commercial)
- Valid driver’s license
- Be physically fit and able
- Able to follow instructions & communicate clearly
- Must be competent at using all forms of power tools
- Great attitude
- Construction White Card
- Asbestos card
- Silica Awareness card
- Carry out all duties to our WHS standard
