Job Description/Overview:
MusicX, an early-stage, stealth-mode startup focused on music technology innovation, is seeking a Principal Engineer to join their team. The role involves building and developing backend services, integrating robust backend infrastructure, and working closely with the product team to translate requirements into technical capabilities. This is an opportunity to work on a groundbreaking social music streaming platform in a technology-first company.
Key Responsibilities:
– Build and develop backend services and cloud-native capabilities
– Work with the product team to translate product requirements into technical capability
– Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code
– Integrate with robust backend infrastructure for a seamless user experience
– Thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
Qualifications needed:
– 8+ years of experience building complex software solutions, with 4+ years in high-volume, low-latency distributed systems
– Strong programming skills in Golang and other object-oriented languages (e.g., Java, Python, Rust)
– Strong grasp of computer science fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, databases)
– In-depth knowledge of software architecture, design patterns, and best practices
– Experience with SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, and public cloud offerings (AWS)
– Familiarity with Amazon AWS services (e.g., RDS, DMS, S3, EC2, CloudWatch, CloudSearch, ElasticSearch)
– Experience with source control systems, DevOps, and CI/CD pipelines
– Strong background in OO development principles (TDD, DDD, SOLID, DRY, KISS)
– Experience working with databases (SQL, NoSQL, Graph, Vector)
– Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple high-priority projects
– Strong communication and problem-solving skills
– Preferred timezone close to Australia, West Coast USA, UTC 8+ to UTC -7
– Passion for music and a desire to make a difference
Skills:
– Excellent written and verbal communication in English
– Solid foundation in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles
– Passion for tackling complex technical challenges and finding innovative solutions
Bonus Points:
– Data engineering, data science, and machine learning experience
– Background in mobile app development for navigation, audio/video streaming, offline playback, and caching mechanisms
– Open-source contributions and experience with distributed teams
– Understanding of system security and complex software design
– Relevant university degree
