Job Description/Overview:
Are you a skilled handyman looking for a casual position with a dynamic and supportive team? Roundhouse Hotels is seeking a reliable and experienced individual to join our maintenance team, working across our two properties: Ramada Diplomat Canberra and Ramada Encore Belconnen. This position offers the potential to convert into a full-time role post-probation for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform general maintenance tasks including painting, patching walls, replacing light bulbs, door handles, curtains, bathroom tapware, and toilet seats.
- Conduct preventive maintenance in rooms and public areas to ensure all facilities are in top condition.
- Manage pool maintenance to ensure a safe and clean environment for guests.
- Ensure all electrical points and appliances are test and tag certified.
- Carry out regular maintenance as reported on the maintenance log.
- Liaise with external contractors for tasks outside the scope of internal staff.
- Perform any other maintenance tasks as requested by the Maintenance Manager or hotel management.
- Report directly to the Maintenance Manager.
Qualifications needed
- Proven experience as a handyman or in a similar role.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively liaise with team members and external contractors.
- Flexibility to work across both properties as needed.
- Reliable transportation; a fuel allowance will be provided.
- A can-do attitude and willingness to try to fix issues internally to minimize external contractor callouts.
- Availability to work shifts during weekdays and weekends.
