We are seeking an exceptional individual to join a team of expert regional Program Directors in stewarding our active international travel programs. Proven experience in the adventure travel industry and substantial travel experience, including hiking and trekking, is essential. The ideal candidate will bring enthusiasm and a commitment to the highest standards of trip development and quality assurance in the industry. The ideal candidate is guest-focused, and driven to deliver top-notch experiences of a lifetime. This position will report to the Senior Director of Trip Development and Operations.
Key Responsibilities
– Develop and manage a portfolio of trips, including responsibility for itineraries, budgets, guides, vendors, outfitters, and extensive quality assurance
– Manage scheduled group trips, private departures, and custom FITs
– Fine-tune existing trips and develop new trips
– Update and oversee the accuracy and timeliness of sales tools including itineraries, FAQs, pre-departure and final details, and training materials
– Create and maintain trip budgets and operate trips to established high standards and profit levels
– Work with vendors remotely, ensuring the highest standards in trip quality
– Build strong relationships with outfitters and internal staff
– Negotiate terms and conditions of service with outfitters and third parties
– Manage multiple critical deadlines for various departments
– Conduct competitive and regional trend analysis
– Design creative solutions for changing markets
– Build high-level, custom itineraries utilizing existing outfitters as well as sourcing all aspects of the itinerary as a vertical operation
– Continuously improve and think strategically and systemically while executing methodically
Qualifications Needed
– Minimum of 3 years of proven experience developing and managing a portfolio of trips
– Strong adventure travel experience, including guiding and managing a travel operation
– Excellent people skills and ability to build strong relationships with outfitters and internal staff
– Proven track record of negotiating terms and conditions of service with outfitters and third parties
– Ability to manage multiple critical deadlines
– Ability to think strategically and execute methodically
– Familiarity with tour management, CRM, and quoting systems
– Proficiency with the entire MS Office suite
Preferred Qualifications
– Geographic area of expertise with extensive knowledge of Asia
– Prior experience and appreciation for consultative selling in a premium, luxury travel category
– Experience working in a fast-paced office environment
– Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
– Strong enthusiasm for adventure travel
Experience:
– Trip Design and Management: 3 years (Required)
– Asia Travel Planning: 3 years (Required)
Skills:
– Excellent time-management skills
– Ability to multitask under the pressure of numerous deadlines
– Ability to see the big picture and execute on it with a team
– Teamwork approach, coordinating with Finance, Sales, Guest Service, and Marketing teams to drive sales growth, trip quality, and profitability
– Ability to give and receive constructive feedback
– Problem-solving skills to achieve sales targets
Salary/Compensation:
– From $70,000 per year
