Job Description/Overview
American International University (AIU) is seeking a skilled General Maintenance Technician to handle various routine maintenance tasks, repairs, and safety improvements across the university campus. This role is vital to ensuring the safety and functionality of the university’s facilities, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and grounds maintenance.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct routine repairs, including structural, plumbing, and electrical work
Supervise contractors as required and support other technicians
Maintain HVAC systems to ensure climate control
Apply preventative measures to minimize future repair needs, such as roof sealing
Perform carpentry tasks and basic groundskeeping for outdoor areas
Ensure safety standards are met by addressing potential hazards
Repaint areas where necessary to maintain facility appearance
Communicate effectively with building occupants
Qualifications
Skilled in building maintenance, HVAC, carpentry, plumbing, and basic electrical work
Strong attention to detail and safety
Good interpersonal skills for positive interaction with the university community
Physical stamina to handle a full shift
Experience
Prior experience in general building maintenance is preferred.
