The Opportunity
We are seeking a talented Writer and Content Lead to become the primary voice and storyteller for Equality Fund. This role will focus on crafting compelling narratives to enhance the organization’s profile, communicate its impact, and engage a diverse ecosystem of partners and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Messaging and Content Creation: Develop clear, consistent messaging for internal and external audiences, aligning with Equality Fund’s mission and values.
- Storytelling and Impact: Identify compelling stories and communicate impact through annual reports, blog posts, thought leadership pieces, op-eds, speaking notes, website and social media content, and more.
- Collaboration: Work cross-functionally to plan and deliver messaging strategies.
- Editing and Resource Development: Create and maintain messaging toolkits, guidelines, and other resources for staff and partners.
- Content Accessibility: Ensure all content uses inclusive and accessible language tailored to diverse audiences.
- Global Perspective: Collaborate with global teams and external stakeholders, fostering a supportive, inclusive, and dynamic work environment.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in writing and communications, preferably for nonprofit, charitable, or social impact organizations.
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex ideas into clear, engaging content for diverse audiences.
- Strong understanding of intersectional gender equality issues or experience in global human rights contexts.
- Exceptional storytelling and editing skills with a proven ability to create narratives for different voices and purposes.
- Highly ethical, with the ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
- Comfortable working independently and cross-functionally in a dynamic environment.
- Commitment to the values of Equality Fund, including Anti-Racism, Anti-Oppression, and Intersectionality.
- Bonus Skills: Proficiency in French and/or Spanish is an asset.
Requirements
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
- Ability to work remotely and travel 2–4 times a year for team meetings or events (approximately 2–4 weeks total).
- Comfortable working in a computer-based, virtual environment.
