About the Role
Randstad is seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer 3 for a 7-month remote contract opportunity. This role involves designing, optimizing, and maintaining Snowflake-based data structures and workflows to meet business requirements while ensuring security, scalability, and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Architecture Design: Create and implement a blueprint for data storage, processing, and access within the Snowflake platform.
- Optimization: Enhance data pipelines and workflows for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
- ETL/ELT Processes: Design and optimize Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) or Extract, Load, Transform (ELT) processes, queries, and data storage strategies.
- Integration: Work with cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP), third-party tools, and on-premises systems.
- Data Security: Implement strategies like encryption, role-based access control (RBAC), and data masking.
- Collaboration: Partner with data engineers, scientists, and analysts to ensure the Snowflake environment meets their needs.
- Performance Monitoring: Identify and address bottlenecks, ensuring optimal query performance.
- Automation: Use Snowflake SQL, Python, or Shell scripting to automate administrative tasks.
- Snowflake Management: Perform bulk data loading, manage Snowflake Virtual Warehouses, and use cloning capabilities.
- Access Control: Implement secure access management, including Single Sign-On (SSO) and SCIM (System for Cross-domain Identity Management).
- Monitoring and Alerts: Configure alerts for pipeline failures, resource spikes, and cost thresholds.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 8 years of experience in software engineering.
- Expertise in Snowflake architecture, data pipeline optimization, and query performance.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python and Shell.
- Strong understanding of cloud services (AWS, Azure, GCP) and Snowflake integration.
- Familiarity with secure access methods (RBAC, SSO, data masking, encryption).
- Knowledge of SQL, data structures, and ETL/ELT processes.
- Experience in configuring Snowflake Virtual Warehouses and managing resources.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
