About the Role
Haymarket Media Group is seeking a talented Content Editor to join the What Car? editorial team. Reporting to the Digital Editor, you will create engaging content across print and digital platforms, ensuring What Car? stays ahead of competitors. You’ll write industry-leading news, features, advice, reviews, and social media content, leveraging analytics tools, content management systems, and your network of contacts for exclusive access.
Key Responsibilities
- Write first looks, news stories, and evergreen content (e.g., top 10s, True MPG).
- Ensure content aligns with SEO guidelines to maximize traffic.
- Create and maintain deals content.
- Identify and develop new features with long-term appeal.
- Sub and upload online reviews to meet SEO and embargo requirements.
- Assist junior team members in improving writing skills and SEO knowledge.
- Craft engaging headlines and proofread content with a focus on SEO.
- Grow and contribute to What Car?’s social media channels (e.g., Twitter, Instagram).
- Represent What Car? at relevant events, advocating for early access to cars.
Skills and Experience Required
- Proven experience as a writer.
- Ability to improve and proofread other people’s copy.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Strong understanding of SEO best practices.
- Familiarity with content management systems.
- A collaborative team player.
