About the Position:
Flexion is seeking a DevSecOps Engineer to join their fully remote team. This role is ideal for individuals with a passion for working in autonomous, self-directed teams to build complex systems using lean, agile methodologies. You will support a modernization project, helping the team deliver incremental business value with each sprint while ensuring security is integrated throughout the development process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Apply excellent problem-solving skills and technical knowledge to support a modernization project.
- Engage in all-day interdisciplinary pairing and mobbing in a virtual office.
- Continuously integrate security and testing through shift-left security practices.
- Design and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and optimize CI/CD pipelines, including security integration.
- Lead threat modeling and security improvements across cloud platforms (AWS and Azure).
- Automate security processes and perform Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M) remediation.
- Lead security exercises and facilitate threat modeling sessions with the team.
- Collaborate and contribute to open-source development within a fully transparent environment.
Required Qualifications:
- 6+ years of combined Application Development, DevSecOps, and Infrastructure Automation experience.
- Strong understanding of DevSecOps practices and principles.
- Experience with AWS and/or Azure Cloud platforms.
- Expertise in writing and implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC).
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, including security integration.
- Demonstrated experience in Cloud security (AWS and/or Azure Gov).
- Ability to lead threat modeling and security improvement initiatives.
- Proficient in shift-left security practices.
- Familiarity with web application security and data security principles.
- Knowledge of FISMA compliance and Federal Authority to Operate (ATO) process management.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with GitOps/DevOps engineering.
- Proficiency in cloud platform management (AWS and Azure Gov).
- Previous experience in creating and maintaining FISMA-compliant systems (moderate or higher).
