Position Overview
We are looking for a Bakery Clerk to join our team! In this role, you will assist customers with selecting and purchasing baked goods, manage inventory, and ensure the bakery department is clean, safe, and ready for shoppers. You will also help with packaging, decorating, and other bakery tasks as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist customers with selecting baked goods and making purchasing decisions.
- Weigh, price, and package bakery items for customers.
- Ensure bakery displays are well-maintained and fully stocked with fresh products.
- Rotate, load, and unload bakery products to ensure freshness.
- Track ingredient expiry dates and arrange their use accordingly.
- Perform daily cleaning and kitchen prep tasks.
- Maintain the backroom and inventory, ensuring all items are accounted for.
- Follow safety and cleanliness guidelines.
- Provide excellent customer service and assist with any inquiries or concerns.
- Assist with other duties as needed.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Proven customer service or retail experience is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in a bakery or food service environment is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for long periods, with frequent walking, reaching, bending, and twisting.
- Able to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Frequent hand coordination, pushing, pulling, and bending.
