Job Description/Overview:
An opportunity is open to join the team at Ward 8B, a 24-bed general medical ward. As a Health Care Support Worker, you will work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, adhering to Trust policies, the Care Certificate standards, and the Compassion in Practice strategy to ensure safe, compassionate, and competent care for all patients.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide patient care as delegated by a Registered Nurse.
Comply with the Code of Conduct for healthcare support workers and adult social care workers.
Support patients, families, and multi-disciplinary teams with effective communication.
Complete the Care Certificate to support career progression.
Qualifications:
Literacy and numeracy equivalent to Functional Skills Level 1 or above (e.g., GCSE grade E or above).
NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Care or equivalent qualification, or relevant experience.
Evidence of Care Certificate completion or commitment to achieve it upon joining.
Experience:
Prior NHS or healthcare experience with an interest in general medicine.
Understanding of professional accountability and delegation related to a Band 3 role.
Experience in working as part of a team and delivering high standards of patient care.
Skills:
Effective communication, interpersonal skills, and empathy.
Time management, resilience, and ability to work under minimal supervision.
IT skills to access electronic patient records.
