Job Description/Overview:
The Graduate Researcher will develop, implement, evaluate, and research programs using AI and ML to address health inequities, focusing on Hawaii and Pacific Island communities. This role involves designing initiatives, engaging stakeholders, and collaborating on interdisciplinary teams to create solutions that promote health equity.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and implement AI/ML-based educational interventions focused on health inequities.
Lead and assess interventions to create adaptable models for other communities.
Engage diverse groups, including students and community members, in health equity initiatives.
Conduct research to evaluate AI/ML interventions’ impact on health disparities.
Facilitate seminars and knowledge exchange programs focused on AI/ML and health equity.
Align interventions with Hawaii and Pacific Island public health needs.
Disseminate findings through presentations, reports, and publications.
Qualifications:
BS degree in Biology or related field; MS in Public Health or Epidemiology required.
Experience with data science applications for health equity and public health challenges in the region.
Familiarity with health issues in Hawaii or Pacific Island communities.
Experience:
At least 1 year working in Hawai’i or Pacific Island public health or epidemiology settings.
Interest in pursuing doctoral-level education in public health or epidemiology.
Skills:
Strong analytical skills and knowledge of AI/ML applications in public health.
Effective communication and engagement with diverse stakeholders.

Additional Information:
Part-time, grant-funded position: 19 hours per week from October 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025, with potential renewal based on funding and performance.
Hourly pay rate: $37.50.
Physical requirements include lifting, climbing stairs, and operating laboratory equipment.
