Job Description/Overview
The Nursing Assistant will support the multidisciplinary team in delivering safe, patient-focused care. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth and effective operation of the ward. Responsibilities include assisting in the assessment, planning, and evaluation of nursing care, as well as providing clinical support to maintain a high standard of care delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Assist patients with personal hygiene, grooming, and maintaining physical comfort.
Document patients’ food and drink intake and assist with feeding where necessary.
Ensure patient privacy, dignity, and independence are maintained.
Support the mobility of patients using appropriate equipment and techniques.
Contribute to end-of-life care, ensuring the patient’s dignity in death.
Qualifications
Essential: National Care Certificate or willingness to complete it within 12 weeks of starting.
Essential: Functional Skills Level 1 in Maths and English or GCSE equivalent, or willingness to undertake assessment and achieve a pass.
Desirable: Experience in a healthcare environment.
Experience
Essential: Experience in a healthcare or social care setting, or a people-focused service industry.
Desirable: Experience working in a healthcare environment.
Skills
Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work within a team and carry out routine tasks.
Ability to use electronic systems to support patient care delivery.
Able to take initiative under supervision by a Registered Healthcare Practitioner.
Strong interpersonal skills to relate well with patients, relatives, and colleagues.
