Job Description/Overview:
This is an opportunity for a technically minded individual to join NatWest Group as a Software Engineer. The role involves working with innovative technology to design, develop, test, and maintain applications and services while following established software engineering principles and methodologies.
Key Responsibilities:
– Design and develop reusable libraries and APIs for bank-wide use.
– Automate build, release, testing, and deployment processes across environments.
– Ensure high-quality work output, meeting technical standards.
– Support the reuse of platform components within software engineering teams.
– Deliver software components to enable the development of platforms, applications, and services.
– Write unit and integration tests in automated test environments to ensure code quality.
Qualifications:
– Background in software engineering, software design, or database design and architecture.
– Experience with SOA or micro-services paradigm.
– Development experience in programming languages (e.g., Java, React JavaScript, Kotlin).
– Knowledge of database architecture such as DB2 and Postgres.
– Understanding of AWS (advantageous).
Experience:
– Test-driven development and experience with automated test frameworks.
– Experience in translating business requirements into technical solutions.
– Proven track record of delivering products within specified timescales.
– Experience working with other engineering teams to modify and maintain existing systems.
Skills:
– Proficiency in Java, React JavaScript, Kotlin, and Spring Framework.
– SQL and Database architecture knowledge (DB2, Postgres).
– Familiarity with automated testing tools and frameworks.
– Knowledge of software development methodologies and the software delivery lifecycle.
