Job Responsibilities
- Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions
- Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy
- Load and unload goods
- Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes
- Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials
- Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment
- Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle
- Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption
Qualifications
Documentation knowledge: Accident or incident reports, Bill of lading, Driver logbook, Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip), Maintenance and repair reports, Trip reports.
Transportation/travel experience: Long-haul
National, Provincial/territorial.

Additional Information
Transportation/travel information: Drive manual transmission vehicle, Valid driver’s licence, Willing to travel cross-border, Willing to travel for extended periods, Willing to travel overnight.

Weight handling: Up to 45 kg (100 lbs)
