Job Description/Overview
Dartmouth College is seeking a Development Coordinator to provide administrative support to frontline fundraisers and assist in managing class fundraising efforts. The role emphasizes cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding top Dartmouth College Fund prospects to maximize unrestricted, current-use donations. The Development Coordinator will manage up to three assigned classes, focusing on activities that lead to successful solicitations and gift commitments.
Key Responsibilities
– Assist fundraisers with solicitation assignments and manage complex database programs to organize, extract, and synthesize data for timely and accurate reporting.
– Coordinate creative design and marketing for newsletters, solicitations, and other communications.
– Assist officers and volunteers in closing open pledges by fiscal year-end through outreach efforts.
– Coordinate and process alumni gifts and pledge cards; communicate necessary gift corrections with alumni.
– Provide support at events and meetings, lead conference calls with volunteers, and coordinate travel and expense processing for fundraising officers.
– Research and identify fundraising opportunities for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of top Dartmouth College Fund prospects.
– Partner with fundraisers in recruiting, managing, and training class fundraising volunteers.
– Serve as a resource for class volunteers, providing guidance on campaign priorities, procedures, and best practices.
– Manage up to three assigned classes, setting and negotiating performance goals, analyzing solicitation effectiveness, and implementing strategies to meet goals.
Qualifications needed
– Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
– Four years of experience in a complex college or university development operation.
– Strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities.
– Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines.
– Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
– Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and database management software.
– Strong project management, presentation, writing, and proofreading skills.
– Attention to detail and ability to respond appropriately to changing priorities and schedules.
– Integrity, discretion, and confidentiality with donor-related matters.
Preferred Qualifications
– Familiarity with computer networks and systems (e.g., Advance).
– Ability to interpret Dartmouth policies and procedures and work effectively in a large institutional setting.
