Job Description/Overview:
The Research Support Officer will provide administrative services and operational support to the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Sydney. The role includes supporting research activities, enabling the submission of grant applications, managing research data, and maintaining technology platforms. The Officer will also assist with ad-hoc research-related tasks and contribute to process improvement within the Faculty’s research operations.
Key Responsibilities:
– Provide administrative support for research grant submissions
– Assist in the collection and submission of research data
– Ensure timely and organised establishment of grants and contracts
– Support researchers in using platforms such as Research Professional, RPM, and Project Budget Tool
– Facilitate regular operations of the Research Support Team
– Contribute to the improvement of research-related processes and procedures
Qualifications needed:
– A bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of relevant training and experience
– Knowledge of Australian competitive research grant schemes, especially ARC and NHMRC
– Understanding of the higher education research environment
Experience:
– Experience in supporting research grant applications
– Understanding of university operational policies and research reporting requirements
Skills:
– Excellent computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
– Strong organisational and time management skills
– Ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks in a high-volume environment
