Job Description/Overview:
The Center for AI Policy is looking for a passionate and effective National Field Coordinator who can build grassroots political support for AI safety legislation. This new role will lead efforts to grow a base of supporters to help advance the organisation’s mission.
The National Field Coordinator will work under the general supervision of the Executive Director and collaborate with the Communications Director and Government Affairs Directors.
Key Responsibilities:
– Identify communities that might provide political support for AI safety.
– Recruit, retain, and engage members of the public interested in AI safety.
– Encourage members to advocate for pro-AI-safety political candidates and bills.
– Strategically deploy CAIP-sponsored resources to maximise the effectiveness of local volunteers.
– Provide volunteers with appropriate advocacy themes and motivate their participation.
– Organise town halls or other events to pressure key members of Congress to support AI safety legislation.
Qualifications needed:
– Demonstrated success in building grassroots political movements.
– A sincere desire to reduce catastrophic risks posed by advanced AI.
Experience:
– At least 1 year of full-time equivalent work experience (not including student internships).
Skills:
– Strong relationship-building skills.
– Effective communication with diverse individuals and communities.
– Good political judgement and slogan crafting.
– Flexibility to work with a small, growing team.
