Job Description/Overview:
Toggl is looking for experienced Senior Backend Engineers to help shape the future of the time tracking industry. As part of a global team of 100+ people, you’ll take ownership of one or more domains of our product and work closely with other backend and frontend engineers. You will develop highly-available RESTful services and backend systems using Go, PostgreSQL, and Google Cloud Infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
– Develop, scale, and maintain backend services, including APIs, reports, and other infrastructure services.
– Collaborate with multiple teams to bring more value to Toggl’s users.
– Design, break down, and complete medium to large scope projects with high productivity.
– Identify and solve technical problems within existing systems/products and offer solutions.
– Lead projects with a small group of people, including hosting weekly meetings and communicating with stakeholders.
Qualifications needed:
– Strong backend engineering experience in Go.
– Significant professional experience with distributed systems, PostgreSQL, and Google Cloud Infrastructure.
– Experience with software engineering best practices (e.g., unit testing, code reviews, design documentation).
– Experience with performance and optimization problems at large scale, with demonstrated ability to diagnose and prevent these issues.
– Ability to work cross-functionally to define, design, build, and improve the product.
– Effective communication skills for regular consensus with peers and clear status updates.
– Experience with data warehouse, analytics systems, Kubernetes at scale, and system architecture at scale.
– Eagerness to contribute to team growth, including interviewing and mentoring junior engineers and providing precise, actionable feedback to peers.
– Proficiency in English, both written and verbal, required for success in a remote and largely asynchronous work environment.
